I’ve heard the “They aren’t true feminists!” line several times before. Really all it comes down to is that a feminist is someone who calls themselves a feminist. I wish feminism were a movement in which the constituent members fought for ‘equality’, but in my life almost all of the genuinely sexist people I have ever met have been self-described feminists. I have almost never seen a ‘true’ feminist have the slightest interest in any male cause. How many feminists on this planet complain about the hugely disproportionate funding women’s health gets compared to male health? Few issues can be so easily summarised as “this number is bigger than that number” but when it comes to health funding for men and women, the fact that men are discriminated against, reducing our already much shorter lifespans, is unavoidable. I’d like to see feminists take action for equality, not just flippantly mention true equality then get right back into protesting ‘slut shaming’ or the oddly indefinable ‘rape culture’ or whatever this week’s buzz word is.

EQUALIST IS THE WORD I LOVE! You make points. I am an equalist, thus within that, I am a feminist. In my opinion, a true feminist stands for the total equality of females and not going out of their way to degrade males. That is female supremisism.
